In the first several weeks of this term UBC Vancouver students have averaged over 1000 fill ups of water a day at one machine! 

The AMS upper floor WaterFillz® kiosk in the student union building registered 35,000 new fill ups since the semester began in September! 

The onboard fill meter is showing almost 129,000 fill ups in only 10 months! 

Way to go UBC!

We were recognized yesterday by our peers at the Annual Surrey Board Of Trade Business Excellence Awards as Best New Business Of The Year!  It was a huge honour to make the final three nominees level, let alone to be chosen as the winner!

McGill University gets their long awaited kiosk just in time for convocation and grad! They decaled both front and back. The Kiosk will remain outdoors during the summer months and will be moved inside to a permanent home for the winter! In only 17 days, they saved over 3900 bottles from the landfill!

City of Abbotsford takes delivery of their WaterFillz Events Kiosk and trailer.  They will decal the trailer in time, however they wanted to have the use of the kiosk as soon as possible for an event they were putting on - a marathon to raise funds and awareness for clean water provision Ethiopia - the marathon was called "Run for Water". 

With over 3500 thirsty participants, they managed to raise $ 203,000 for the cause - CONGRATS AND THANKS!   At left is a shot of their kiosk design...

Safestar participated in the AMICCUS Show in Edmonton.  This show was a collective of university and college student union groups meeting to discuss strategies and to network and learn from each other.  There were representatives from Student Unions, Alma Mater, student federations, retail services and graduate groups from over 50 Canadian universities and colleges. 

Our kiosk was very popular; with the custom exterior design opportunities the unit offers being singled out for comment.

Metro Vancouver takes delivery of their WaterFillz® Event Kiosk and custom trailer.  Training and a demonstration of the unit was provided to over 30 staff members of the Metro Vancouver Team.  The unit was set to debut at the 2011 Dragon Boat Festival at beautiful False Creek this past weekend. 

The results and responses were extremely favorable. The users all thought it was clever, smart and about time!  They conducted Metro Van tap water vs bottled water taste tests, and there really is no difference, with a lot of the testers actually choosing tap!  Lots of water drinkers here, and many with refillable bottles already, there was no shortage of users for the new and exciting system. 

The cool crisp tap water that was offered for free to all, was appreciated and many people without bottles filled up their used bottles and even soft drink bottles and cups!

The Capital Regional District of Victoria take delivery of their custom WaterFillz® unit and trailer.  Eager to get the product in front of the people, they will have their trailer decaled to promote their message at a later date.  Their kiosk will attend over 280 events this summer!  Their unit is decaled both front and back and makes quite an impression!  They have also purchased over 10,000 stainless steel bottles to sell and give away to promote their municipal water source!

The University of Victoria secured sponsorship for their unit which was orginally decalled in blue.   They managed to get sponsorship from Waste Management for their unit!  The Waste Management people came out to see the reveal and were very impressed with the look and concept. Sponsorship from partnered vendors makes buying the kiosk easier for any facility. The magnetic lower portion of the kiosk offers the opportunity to temporarily decal for a singular event with magnetic signage. 

Also pictured is the City of Campbell River unit that was sponsored by BC Hydro last year.

2 Weeks With the WaterFillz® Kiosk at the UBC Student Union Building Results in 7600 Bottles Saved From Waste!

After 2 weeks of use with the new digital counters, the UBC SUB building has saved 7600 Plastic Bottles from going to waste. With an upcoming campaign to promote the pure, clean drinking water available for free; the numbers are expected to really take off.

Elgin Secondary Student Doug S. Has Won the WaterFillz® Design Contest for His School

Grade 12 student Doug S. won the WaterFillz® kiosk design contest with the design shown at right.

For his efforts Doug wins an IPOD Nano and will be designing new Kiosk wraps for us in the future.

UBC Kelowna Installs 5 Kiosks Around Campus
